It has a role as an anti-ulcer drug, a hepatoprotective agent, a neuroprotective agent, a nephroprotective agent, a cardioprotective agent and a Hsp70 inducer. It is a terpene ketone and a methyl ketone. It contains a geranylgeranyl group.
