On the shelf for nearly 20 years: which K-beauty steady-sellers survived?
A nostalgic question in r/KoreanBeauty. Prompted by a post about brands constantly launching, reformulating or discontinuing products, a long-time skincare fan (30-plus years in, about 20 of them with K-beauty) asked the opposite: what has actually survived? Their starting list: Missha BB creams, the Whoo Gongjinhyang line and Sulwhasoo's first-step serum.
What the replies said
-
Too Cool For School's Art Class by Rodin shading: one person bought it on a first trip to Korea over ten years ago and still uses it.
-
Several named Etude's colour makeup as consistently solid, with good payoff for the price. The Lovely Cookie blush and Double Lasting foundation came up as long-runners.
-
Other names: COSRX pimple patches and snail essence, The Saem's concealer, Laneige's lip sleeping mask and Innisfree's No-Sebum powder.
-
One person has used belif creams on and off since around their launch in 2008 and says even the packaging looks much the same.
-
A commenter said Banila Co's Clean It Zero turns 20 this year, now also sold at a big US beauty chain, and others agreed the tubs are too nice to throw away.
-
One reply corrected itself: a product they had listed as unchanged had in fact been reformulated.
Desk note: Same name doesn't always mean same formula, as that last reply showed. When you repurchase a long-time favourite, compare the current ingredient list with an older photo or listing. If it suddenly feels different, the reason is often right there.
Which K-beauty product have you repurchased for ten years or more?
