Face starting to sag during fast weight loss: treatments now, or wait?

On theqoo's beauty board, someone losing weight on medical advice said their face was thinning out faster than their body and the skin was starting to feel loose. With quite a lot of weight still to lose, they asked whether to start radiofrequency or HIFU-type treatments now to get ahead of it.

The 14 replies mostly said: wait, rather than book treatments.

  • Several people said that once the loss stopped and weight stayed stable, their face settled again. One described a relative who looked suddenly older after a big loss, then filled out again as the body adjusted.

  • Many felt clinic treatments could wait until the weight loss is finished.

  • Some recommended strength training for firmness, while others pushed back that it helps the body more than the face, so opinion was split.

  • A few warned that radiofrequency treatments might reduce facial fat further, and that a HIFU-type session alone would not be enough.

  • Others suggested asking on the diet board, where people have more weight-loss experience.

Desk note:Cleveland Clinic explains that the hollow cheeks and looser skin seen after rapid weight loss come mainly fromhow fast the weight is lost. It suggests losing about one to two pounds a week, eating enough protein, staying hydrated and using sunscreen daily, and says cosmetic treatment is optional rather than medically necessary. If you are considering it, talk to a qualified professional once your weight has stabilised.

After losing weight, did your face bounce back with time?
