Seoul in August: sightsee early, nap, go out at night. Enough for the heat?
A solo traveller who can only visit in mid-August shared a plan on the Tripadvisor Seoul forum: leave the hotel by 9, see as much as possible until 2, nap, then head out again in the evening for the city's nightlife. Would that avoid burning out in the heat?

The plan sounds good on paper, one reply said, as long as you can handle late nights; otherwise it catches up with you after a few days.

One person found the heat more manageable than they expected: plenty of shade and air-conditioned buildings. Light clothes and a small handheld fan help.

Greener neighbourhoods near the mountains or the stream felt noticeably cooler than concrete-heavy districts. Do open-air sights like palaces in the morning, indoor spots and markets later.
-
Sudden downpours were called a bigger wild card than the heat. If one hits, sit it out in a café.

Someone just back said evenings weren't much cooler because of humidity, and named a sturdy umbrella for both sun and rain as the key item. Subway cars are cool but stations and platforms aren't, and a waterproof jacket is too hot to wear.
Desk note The World Health Organization says protection is recommended once the UV index reaches 3 or more, and that each day's peak UV falls in the four hours around solar noon. A 9-to-2 sightseeing block sits right on top of that window. The umbrella tip from the thread is a UV tip too; put sunscreen on before you leave and again if you have sweated a lot.
What's your trick for handling heat and sun in a Seoul summer?
