Which perfumes last absolutely forever?

On theqoo's beauty board, someone asked for perfumes with exceptional staying power. They wondered whether everything from Maison Francis Kurkdjian lasts long, and whether Chanel holds up too.

What the replies said:

  • Maison Francis Kurkdjian's extrait line got a lot of "yes, it's strong." One person said a spritz on clothes stays until laundry day; another has been using a single small sample for two years.

  • Chanel, Dior and Yves Saint Laurent were named as brands with long-lasting drydown. One reply described spraying before work in the morning and still smelling it after getting home.

  • A half-joking claim that YSL Libre lingers for weeks drew agreement from others.

  • One Kurkdjian scent was said to last so long it earned its own nickname.

The thread settled on "a long-lasting perfume lasts even longer on fabric," with a hint that too much staying power can become a burden.

Desk note: Concentration and composition matter more than the brand. As a general classification, eau de cologne has about 2–3% aromatic compounds, eau de toilette 5–15% and eau de parfum 15–20%. At the same concentration, scents with heavier base notes tend to linger longer. In small rooms or on public transport, going lighter is a kindness.

Which perfume do you know that lasts the longest?
