Seoul Forest Atelier-gil: the café and fashion street next to the park

A view of Seoul Forest in May 2022Seoul Forest, located in Seongsu-dong

Atelier-gil is the street running along the edge of Seoul Forest that's been reshaped since early 2026 into a fashion- and lifestyle-focused shopping strip, driven by a public-private project between Musinsa and Seongdong-gu district (https://www.itnk.co.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=80873). Local commercial-district reporting describes vacancies dropping and foot traffic returning after years of the street feeling half-empty, with outlets now calling the area a potential "second Seongsu" (https://www.sisajournal-e.com/news/articleView.html?idxno=420301).

As of the first half of 2026, brands including Freight, Yurt, General Idea, Lookcast, Have a Whale, Goyowear, Sabreparis, Maison Pleasang and Puma had opened stores along the street as part of the rollout, with roughly 20 brands planned to move in through the year, plus a kids' concept store from 29CM nearby (https://biz.newdaily.co.kr/site/data/html/2026/04/03/2026040300176.html). Cafés and small eateries fill in between the fashion stores, and the whole strip sits close enough to Seoul Forest itself that a shopping walk and a park walk are easy to combine.

Coverage from the ground describes the street shifting from a place people passed through to one where they now linger, with cafés and stores encouraging people to stay rather than just walk by (https://tnnews.co.kr/archives/274930). Because the redevelopment is still rolling out through 2026, exactly which brands are open and their hours can change fast, so it's worth checking what's currently trading before building a route around one specific store.

Practical info:

  • Area: along Seoul Forest-gil / Atelier-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, bordering Seoul Forest park
  • Subway: nearest stations are Ttukseom (Line 2) or Seoul Forest (Suin-Bundang Line), roughly 10-15 minutes on foot depending on which end of the street you're headed to
  • Hours: vary by store and café; this is a street, not a single business, so check individual shops

Nearby: Seoul Forest park itself is right next door, and LCDC Seoul and the existing Yeonmujang-gil shopping street are both within the wider Seongsu area.

If you've walked Atelier-gil recently, did it feel like a real shopping street yet, or still more like a street in progress?
