Body oil feels drier than body lotion. Is it just me?
A theqoo beauty-board user whose body skin stays rough even in summer shared a puzzle. Body lotion keeps them moist until the next day, but body oil only leaves the surface shiny and somehow feels drier. Were they applying it wrong?

It helps to split moisturizing ingredients into two groups: ones that draw water in, like glycerin and hyaluronic acid, and ones that sit on top and slow water loss, like petrolatum, mineral oil and shea butter. A plain oil behaves mostly like the second group, so on skin that is already dry it can feel exactly as the thread described: shiny on the surface, nothing underneath.
