In Korea, it’s easier to be understood if you briefly describe your symptoms first, then add “since when” and “in what situations.” These expressions are practical for a card.

      • My skin is dry and feels tight:건조하고 당겨요 (geonjohago danggyeoyo)
      • My skin has broken out:피부가 뒤집어졌어요 (pibuga dwijibeojyeosseoyo) ※Colloquial. “Skin trouble” can also be said as 피부 트러블 (pibu teureobeul).
      • It stings:따끔거려요 (ttakkeumgeoryeoyo)/화끈거려요 (hwakkeungeoryeoyo)※The latter means a hot, flushed feeling.
      • I have allergies:알레르기가 있어요 (alleleugiga isseoyo)

At a shop, “I have sensitive skin” 민감성 피부예요 (mingamseong pibuyeyo) and “Do you have products without fragrance?” 향료 없는 제품 있어요? (hyangnyo eomneun jepum isseoyo) are also useful. At a dermatologist’s office, it’s easier to explain if you show the names or photos of any cosmetics or medications you’ve used. If the pain is severe or the symptoms spread suddenly, see a dermatologist rather than asking for shopping advice.
